Becky Rolland
In October, the New Orleans Paralegal Association hosted its 2009 Annual Education Seminar for Paralegals, for which Becky Rolland, NFPA Secondary, was the Seminar Chairperson. NOPA is very proud and grateful to Becky for her outstanding leadership in pulling together the biggest and most successful annual education seminar that NOPA has ever had the pleasure of hosting in all its years since 1979. The seminar was everything we had ever dreamed it could be: the highest attendance ever, the most vendors, most tables and most sponsorships ever; scholarships and discounts for students and members whose firms were not paying their registrations due to the economy; most new members coming forward to join NOPA as a result of the seminar, and the largest seminar dollar profit ever. Robert Fleischmann, NFPA Primary, and our board members and committee chairs and some other volunteers, as well as the speakers, all worked hard and contributed significantly to the final team outcome, but Becky was the seminar chairperson, who took charge, did a great deal of work herself, and guided us to NOPA’s huge success. We want NFPA to know how proud we all are of Becky. Because of her efforts, NOPA is better known, not only in the legal community of New Orleans, but in the overall general community as well. The paralegal profession in this city stepped up a notch that day, which is ultimately what Becky wanted, she told me, and we could not be happier.
After such a huge recent success, I could not let the opportunity go by to tell you about Becky, who recently attended the NFPA convention. She will probably want to kill me, but I want to share all this gratitude I am feeling. Her leadership made a huge difference to NOPA this year, and set the stage for even bigger and better successes in NOPA’s future and for the paralegal profession in New Orleans. THANK YOU, BECKY!
Jay Quigley
I would like to offer recognition to Tampa Bay Paralegal Associations' founding member, Jay Quigley, for his tireless efforts on behalf of our Chapter Association, and the paralegal profession as a whole.
Having served as TBPA's Past President and various board positions has enabled Jay to participate and offer suggestions from a number of perspectives. His ever increasing experience, coupled with his natural abilities, culminated in our most successful seminar yet.
Jay runs our web site (which I urge you to check out), speaks on behalf of our organization and profession, runs a successful independent paralegal business and is the proud dad of a beautiful daughter.
He is a very talented, dedicated individual whom we are proud to have on TBPA's board of directors.
Keep it up, Jay!
Brenda Peterson-Thomas
National Capital Area Paralegal Association member Brenda Peterson-Thomas deserves special recognition.
She has been an active member of NCAPA since I can recall, I arrived in Washington D.C. in 1997. She has served on the Board of Directors, served as network and committee chairs since the mid 1990. Currently she is the Experienced Paralegal Network Chair, Vendor Committee Chair, and Paralegal Week Committee Chair. She has been instrumental in providing paralegals with events for Paralegal Week in D.C. to celebrate with. NCAPA has celebrated Paralegal Week for many years, but since she has been chair the last three years have been a full week of events that everyone can enjoy.
Ms. Thomas inspires many members to get involved, including me. She attended the first network meeting I chaired, NCAPA's Environment & Energy Network in 1998 to show her support. I later served on the board and was able to bring her back for a year to assist NCAPA on the Board in 2001 as First VP. Her network meetings, events she organizes and commitment are beyond comparison.
She is a true active member in the profession and well respected in the community.
Amy Boesch
The Connecticut Association of Paralegals, Inc. would like to recognize Amy Boesch as a past Treasurer, officer and director. In short, she's a member who selflessly provided years of service to her association. She has always been a voice of reason and caution on the Board of the Association always offering sage advice. She will be missed. Amy is leaving Connecticut and relocating to the State of Maine. We bid her farewell and Bon Chance.
