NFPA® Membership Options/Dues

Join a Local NFPA Association - When you join one of NFPA's local associations, you automatically become a member of NFPA. A portion of the dues paid to each local association is paid to NFPA for each individual member. You will receive all the individual members' benefits listed inside this brochure, plus the local association benefits. Dues for this membership are set by and paid to the local association.

Individual Membership

Join as an Individual Member - You may also join NFPA directly. If you select this option, you become a sustaining member and receive individual membership benefits from NFPA. You must be working as a paralegal and provide proof of employment. The options include Individual Sustaining ($85 annual fee) and Student Sustaining ($50 annual fee), available to students taking classes to become a paralegal. Membership is not available to those incarcerated.

Organizational Membership

Organizations who are interested in promoting the paralegal profession are welcome to join NFPA as well. Simply complete and submit the Individual Member Application along with the annual dues of $200.

Association Membership

NFPA is the choice of paralegal professionals. Direct your future by joining the organization setting the standard for the profession. Your association joins NFPA by completing a short application and paying a $50 application fee. Dues are only $25 annually for each local member except for students which are $20. Join today! Other Membership Options

NFPA understands that individual paralegals have unique needs. Therefore, NFPA offers different membership options. If you or your association are interested in any of these options, contact NFPA headquarters to receive additional information.

Military Sustaining Membership-at-Large

This membership is available to individual paralegals currently serving on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States. Annual membership fee is $45 and individual military sustaining members-at-large will not be excluded or discriminated against due to tour of duty outside of the United States of America in applying for or holding membership or receiving benefits in NFPA. This application (PDF) will assist you in joining NFPA.

 

Associate Membership

This membership is available to paralegal groups which are divisions or sections of non-paralegal entities (e.g., bar associations, government entities, etc.), or located outside of the United States, who do not want to take an active part in the governance of NFPA but do want to associate with the mission and activities of NFPA and participate in professional and personal benefits offered by NFPA. Associate member organizations shall pay dues as set by the Board of Directors.  Domestic application (PDF) here.  The International application (PDF) will assist International Paralegal Association/Organizations Join NFPA.

Affiliate Membership

Associations with fewer than 30 members can join NFPA at a reduced rate.

Student Association

Membership in NFPA is available to student associations whose members are enrolled in a course of paralegal studies at a post-secondary institution. This membership option enables the student associations to receive The National Paralegal Reporter®, Inside NFPA, seminar notices, and much more. Student Association Membership Guidelines, Education Guidelines and application will assist your Student Association in joining NFPA.
